Frances M. Maldonado Engelbaum joined Ray Peña McChristian in 2022. Frances has worked on a variety of insurance defense cases with a focus on trucking carriers, automobile and homeowner insurance carriers. Frances is a litigator with extensive experience handling claims involving deceptive trade practices, catastrophic motor vehicle collisions, property damage, and a variety of personal injury cases.
Prior to joining Ray Peña McChristian, Frances was an Assistant City Attorney where she routinely represented the City of El Paso in lawsuits, mediation, and proceedings before administrative agencies including the Texas Railroad Commission, Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUC), and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). Frances’ extensive litigation experience stems from handling over 30 jury trials as an Assistant District Attorney for the 34th Judicial District of Texas (El Paso). Frances spent five years prosecuting and investigating criminal cases in state courts with a focus on domestic violence and aggravated criminal offenses.
Prior to attending law school, Frances enjoyed a career in the wealth management industry in New York, New York where she handled regulatory compliance and investment matters for private banking clients.
